Thursday, Day 1 (11/2)

  • Arrive to Puerto Vallarta (a few of you arrive Wednesday or Friday).
  • Take a taxi from the airport to the last boat dock south of the city, Boca de Tomatlan, about a 45min drive.
    • Bring cash or pesos for the taxi's - it will range from 500 -700 pesos ($25-$35) for local city taxis - slightly more for private companies or vans.
    • Tell your taxi you are going to 'Boca de Tomatlan' that very last port dock south.
      • Depending on arrival times, guests can travel together in groups, splitting costs if possible.
  • Verana Guests - In Boca de Tomatlan, Verana's boats will have the orange canvas top and be transferring guests at 1pm, 4pm & 530pm, and possibly more frequent boats in between. If your flight is delayed significantly, please notify Verana so they can make later arrangements if needed.

  • FYI beers are $1 at the dock while you wait for the next boat... so ya know, drink up.
  • Enjoy the 30 min boat ride down the jungle coast. (Predator was filmed here with Arnold Schwarzenegger.. cool.)
  • Once you have traveled by air, water and land to reach Yelapa it is time to relax and enjoy our secluded paradise. We will make no demands on your time or attention. Relax, settle in or explore the surrounding area and enjoy your vacation!

  • Those of you traveling elsewhere in Mexico afterwards.. enjoy!!

Tips!

  • Raicilla - a rare liquor specific to this region that has been around for ages. Its nothing like Tequila or Mezcal and can only be found in this area. I suggest you find some and try it for yourself!
  • Bring a small flashlight or headlamp for walking at night.
  • Electrical outlet adapter not required for most - Mexico's outlets are same as the United States.
  • Footwear - bring comfortable walking shoes and sandals. Hiking boots are an option but not necessary.
  • Mosquitoes - each bed has a mosquito net, Verana staff will set it up prior to evening hours for you. Bring any mosquito repellent you prefer to use. Limited selection can be purchased in Yelapa.
  • Scorpions - We are in the jungle and this region of Mexico has scorpions. So wear shoes or sandals at all times - always check your shoes before putting them on! If stung by one, tell front desk immediately... you'll be okay ;)
  • If you want to play music, wifi and cell signal is very limited and unlikely. Download your music to your phone or iPod before traveling.
